At Sprouts, safety starts with you! We’re creating a culture that controls workplace hazards and promotes ongoing education for our teams. On September 10, the team at store #219 – Roseville – CA, reached 365 days of being incident free! Congratulations to the Roseville team for this remarkable achievement.
Nancy Huffman Wright, Administrative Coordinator and Safety Captain, shared the drive behind her team’s success: “The most important part of our safety strategy is having a fantastic team! We have a culture of trust and transparency that runs deep within our team. We wouldn’t have achieved this goal without everyone working together to make our store safe!”
Our dedicated Safety Captains play a big role in creating a safe environment in our stores. “This role is such a critical part of our store. At the end of every year, we switch our Safety Captain to a team member who is aspiring to earn a core position. We believe in developing our people and allowing them to gain hands-on experiences while growing in their careers,” Antonio Molina, Store Manager, said.
Nancy and Antonio work closely together to help their team recognize potential safety issues. By addressing safety concerns in a timely manner, they’ve built confidence in their team and help maintain a safe environment in their store.
“The most critical part of achieving goals is the constant communication of where we stand. We talk about how many days we’ve been accident free in every huddle. We also discuss the process of incidents, including how accidents are reported and how they’re turned into a claim. By doing so, this relieves the element of pressure and builds confidence to report an accident,” Nancy said.
“We couldn’t have done this without the leadership, care and support of Michelle Horton, our Regional Director. She has been truly supportive of this team’s success and continues to inspire us to reach our goals,” Antonio said. Antonio shared how they’ll continue to work on remaining incident free: “We plan on continuing our procedures, implementing any ideas that would improve safety, and keeping our safety streak going!”
