Getting Feedback
Hello Sprouts Team Members!
This month as we continue to prioritize Coaching & Feedback, we’re focusing on receiving feedback. Often when we think of Coaching & Feedback, we think about giving feedback. Being able to effectively receive feedback and use it is a key part of critical thinking and helps us make good, thoughtful decisions.
Receiving feedback can sometimes feel uncomfortable, so it helps to remember that getting feedback is how we improve and grow.
Here are a few tips for getting feedback:
- Try not to view feedback as a negative conversation. Use it as a tool for continuous development to assess your strengths and weaknesses.
- Don’t take feedback personally.
- Practice active listening to ensure you fully understand what’s you’re hearing. Be curious and ask questions.
- Own your feedback by establishing next steps and following through.
Often we hear “I don’t get feedback from my boss.” The best way to get feedback is to ask for it. Simply ask “what can I do to be more effective?”
