Hello everyone –
As we continue the messaging on coaching and feedback, it’s important that we don’t lose sight of putting these reinforcement activities into action!
As a reminder, over the last five months we have explored:
- The importance of coaching and feedback.
- Sharing appreciation.
- Getting feedback – remember, if you don’t get regular feedback,
ask for it. - Building out your Individual Development Plan.
- Coaching in 1:1s and having a regular time to meet with your team and/or your manager to continue your development and reach your goals.
- Using the competency guide.
- For store team members, using the coaching guide.
Summary:
“Feedback” is really three different things, with different purposes.
- Appreciation – motivates and encourages.
- Coaching – helping increase knowledge, skill, capability, growth, or raises feelings in your relationship.
- Evaluation – tells you where you stand, aligns expectations, and informs decision making.
This summary can be found in the bestseller, Thanks for the Feedback, by Douglas Stone and Shelia Heen.
This week, we begin our performance reviews. This review of 2023 should share insights on where you are doing well, and things you should consider to be even better.
- Take the time to really understand the feedback, and ensure you are clear about what is being shared with you.
- Remain an active listener and ask questions if you don’t understand the feedback you are receiving.
Next month, we will move to exploring change and curiosity, but please stay focused on coaching….2024 is the year of coaching at Sprouts!
Finally, I look forward to sharing the results of our recent culture connect survey. We expect to receive the results in April and want to take a moment to thank everyone who participated.
These results will be important for us to learn from and take into account what we should do to make Sprouts a Best Place to Work!
Thank you!
