Culture & Values Reinforcement – February 2024

February 22, 2024

Hello Sprouts Team Members!

This quarter, we will continue with a focus on coaching and feedback. Coaching and feedback tie directly to our values of Care and Own It and help build our people and grow our business.

Coaching is also one of the most valuable things you can do for another person. A caring coach is a person who helps us reach out goals and achieve our full potential.

Tips for the Coach:

  • Remain fact-based and focused when coaching.
  • Be aware of where you and your team member are on the mood elevator.
  • Use coaching to connect and build relationships.
  • Use ‘I’ statements such as “What I appreciate about you is…” and “I believe you could be even more effective if…”

One to One Meetings:

Take time to schedule 1:1s. The best managers recognize that 1:1s are foundational.  One-on-ones can make day-to-day output better, build trust, and improve engagement and motivation.

  1. Prepare for your meetings.
  • Our store teams should use their Monthly 1:1 form.
  • In store support and the DCs you should set an agenda, and both the team member and the leader should be prepared to contribute.
  1. Schedule the meetings in advance. Be clear this meeting isa two-way dialogue.
    1. Keep the meetings and set a consistent time frame for how long you will meet.
  2. Actively listen. Listen more than you speak.  Avoid distractions and make sure the team member can convey where they need help.  Your role is to coach and help solve problems.
  3. Coach on development opportunities. Focus on the IDP, and progress made, and what remains to be made.  Leave with a clear plan of action.

Use the Leadership Competency Guide as a resource for coaching and feedback. Use language and goals aligned to our competencies

Thank you for all you do!
