Community Corner: Team Members Volunteer at MLK Fest

This year, in honor of MLK Day of Service on January 20, SOUL @ Sprouts partnered with the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation and The Walls Project for three day of service events in Dallas, TX, Baton Rouge, LA and Aurora CO.

Over the past weekend, Sprouts team members engaged in several impactful volunteer events like multiple mural restorations, bringing vibrant colors back to life in the community.

Our team also took part in community clean-ups, tree planting, and garden refurbishments, ensuring greener and more welcoming spaces for everyone. Additionally, they painted garden entryways, adding a touch of charm and warmth.

To top it off, Sprouts volunteers facilitated taste testing of healthy fruits and veggies, promoting nutritious choices in a fun and engaging way. Together, we celebrated the spirit of service and community that MLK Day inspires!

A special thanks to all team members who participated in this impactful event!

Volunteer Spotlight: Dallas Team Members Volunteer at MLK Fest Dallas

In honor of MLK Day of Service on January 15, the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation and SOUL @ Sprouts teamed up with The Walls Project in Dallas, TX for MLK Fest 2024.

Over one thousand community volunteers came together to clean the historic streets of South Dallas and create meaningful public art. Twenty Sprouts Team Members created a new signature piece of public art honoring civil rights activist, Juanita Craft.

Thank you to our Dallas team for braving the cold and living our value of Care!

MLK National Day of Service

On Monday, January 15, 2024, the nation honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The day is both a federal holiday to celebrate Dr. King’s birthday and recognized as MLK Day of Service – a day to volunteer in our communities, bridge barriers, and make a positive impact on the people around us. The day truly embodies Sprouts Values of Care, Love Being Different, and Own It.

Dr. King’s widow, Coretta Scott King stated, “The greatest birthday gift my husband could receive is if people of all racial and ethnic backgrounds celebrated the holiday by performing individual acts of kindness through service to others.”

You’re encouraged to share how you’ve demonstrated acts of kindness and service to make a positive impact on your community! Visit the SOUL @ Sprouts SharePoint page to comment.

Growing Health: 24 Gardens in 24 Hours – Join Us in Nurturing School Communities!

The Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation is on a mission to help kids grow healthy with school gardening and cooking programs that bring nutrition education to life. To bring this vision to life, we are building 24 gardens in 24 cities in 24 hours!

Sprouts invited customers and the community to nominate a school for this special program – and the results were inspiring! Nearly 3,000 nominations were received, submitted by a wide range of teachers, parents, students and neighbors from the school’s local community.

The 24 schools below will each receive a new school garden – valued at an estimated $20,000 per garden – with help from the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation!
